Eva Longoria - the fiery Gabrielle of the TV show “Desperate Housewives” and the star of the new romantic comedy “Over Her Dead Body” - has been the apple of the tabloid eye for quite some time.
Long before her prime time fame - and way before her media celebrated marriage to San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker - Longoria was followed and photographed because of her relationship with JC Chasez of the excruciatingly annoying boy band ‘N Sync.
So, she has been at this fame game for a long, long time.
She told me that it’s gotten to the point that she doesn’t even hear it when the paparazzi calls out her name on the street (that’s a photog trick to get celebrities to look up and smile for the camera).
“I swear that Tony and I can conduct a regular conversation on the street while those guys are screaming our names,” she said.
It gets a little more troublesome, she said, when she’s out shopping with her girlfriends. So they’ve devised a special way to communicate.
“I don’t respond to the name ‘Eva’ when I’m out in public, so my friends call me by a different name. Otherwise, I’d never look up if they were trying to get my attention. I just don’t look up when I hear that name Eva.”
Longoria wouldn’t tell me her secret name, of course. She’s probably afraid I’d sell it to the paparazzi. But I’m guessing it’s Gertrude.
